The HX-10D wasn't really on my radar, but I found a good deal on Yahoo Auctions for an odd-couple type auction. The machine was boxed and in pretty good condition, but it came with a digital RGB monitor. There is only one MSX machine that I'm aware of that can use digital RGB, and this definitely isn't it. This kind of mismatch often makes for a good deal, and this time was no exception.

When I received it, it was mostly in decent condition, but there was some kind of residue on four of the keys. It looked like someone had put some tape over certain keys in order to highlight a particular game's directional movement to the WASZ keys. It was stubborn, but I got it off with no fading to the original keycaps, so it came out looking pretty much gorgeous.

The box had a bit of damage to it, as the portion that holds the top lid locked in place had been torn off. But overall, it was still quite clean and sturdy. You can't ask too much more from a 40+-year-old cardboard box.

The thing worked, which was a relief. The keyboard response was good, and the audio/video were as expected. You can't ask much more from a 40+-year-old machine, either, although most things I come across do seem to work well.
