I had played The New Zealand Story maybe once before, maybe on X68000? It's a little fuzzy to me now. I wasn't that impressed the first time through, but after picking it up in a bulk lot auction of FM Towns goods, I gotta say, this is a pretty great game. The graphics and sound are fun, and the mechanics are often unique.

You play as a kiwi bird and have to make your way north to south over the span of New Zealand, rescuing your friends who were kidnapped by a... *checks Wikipedia* blue leopard seal. The game is part maze, part puzzle, and part platformer. I've blown through some of the levels in a couple of minutes, while others took closer to 10 minutes. There is also a boss fight at the end of each level group. I managed to beat the first boss, but I am not sure if I figured out what I was doing, or if I just got lucky!
