Emerald Dragon is a pretty popular and widespread RPG. This is the MSX2/2+ version, so it supports the wide color palette and has an FM sound generated soundtrack. The introduction includes a lot of well-illustrated images, sometimes looking like they could be digitized hand-drawn works.

It has a good variety of landscapes and towns. Establishments also allow for free-roaming, as opposed to simply opening dialog boxes, which they save for when you decide to interact with the owner. The combat takes place in real-time by bumping into enemies with your weapon drawn.
