Somehow, I had never heard of Mappy until I started collecting Japanese vintage computers, though it seems it was also released in the US so I would have expected to have at least passing familiarity with it. This is a very fun arcade style game! You play a police mouse raiding the mansion of a nefarious cat gang to recover stolen goods. If they touch you while running on a platform, you lose a life.

It's an early platformer with a unique twist: although you can move in all four directions, your controller only has two directions! Vertical movement is performed by jumping off the edges of the platform onto trampolines, which bounce you back up into the air.

Level three is a sort of bonus round. You hop around the room, trying to pop balloons. You are time-limited and it's at least a very difficult task to pop all balloons, so you have to be mindful to try to get to the end so you can get the boss balloon and escape with your bonus!

Level four is back to the basic action, but they do keep the game interesting by adding features and changing the house layout.
