Lode Runner is an American classic available for many systems in the western world, and it is perhaps even more widely ported in Japan. This is one of the nicer versions that I've played, in my opinion. The animation is nice and smooth.

It also comes with the level editor. Oops, I just realized you can't win this.

and of course loading from floppy instead of tape is a huge timesaver.
