Bubblekundo 1999 seems to be a game inspired by Missile Command, but it adds to the depth of gameplay in several ways. For one, instead of three bases from which to fire, there are ten. As I don't have any 10-button game controllers that are MSX-compatible on me, they've conveniently mapped the 1 to 0 keys to fire from the bases. Instead of aiming and shooting, you have to determine which base is going to hit the projectile with a vertical strike. It sort of tests your touch-typing skills, because it's easy to fire from the wrong base, but if you look down at the keys before firing, the projectile may move.

And the game has a bit of 3D feel to it. The projectiles you are supposed to blow out of the sky get larger and smaller as they maneuver their way through the sky, getting bigger as they get closer to you, and smaller as they reach out to the further-away cities. Aiming can be a bit of a challenge, but the game is sort of gentle, I was getting hit repeatedly but able to make it to the third round even while taking photos!
