I found this kind of strange tape called Aoi Uchu no Boken (Adventure in Blue Outer-space) on Mercari. I saw some screenshots of it in via Google Images and thought it was pretty interesting looking. I decided to buy it. When it arrived, I noticed that it used to have two labels, but one was removed and placed directly on the tape case. Both labels have, in very hard-to-make-out writing, "SAMPLE" printed on them. The exposed side had a plain white label that said "DEMO MSX". I thought it was a game, but it was a non-interactive demo. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The screenshots were a good indication of what was to be found on the tape. I don't know if this is exactly a straight-up "demo" like were cranked out for the Commodore 64, it seemed more of a "sit back and let us entertain you for a bit" type of concoction. I don't think it pushed any envelopes, it contained a lot of large-sized, unique graphics with interesting imagery. Early computer art, or sometimes animation, set to background music. It takes you through a variety of locations. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The contents maybe don't quite line up with what is written on the label. It mentions that chapters 1 and 2 are on side A, and 3 and 4 are on side B. I could only find one distinct program, and I am not clear if the single program constitutes 1 and 2, or if that's just 1, but in any event, perhaps the full four chapters are reserved for tapes not marked "SAMPLE" and "DEMO". |
